Respect the elders. Yes! We agree. Fear them. No! We refuse. Respect is what they deserve, fearing them is outdated…more of an autocratic fairy tale. As humans, fear is the best remedy for our prospective predators. But if cushioned with courage, fear is mitigated.Youngsters, a great crop of the senior citizens have infested society with multiple influences courtesy of their control fashions, spiced by their decentralized persona. It is in this older generation thathorrible systems as autocracy, corruption, nepotism, appeasement,diversion/abuse of public funds and abuse of the youth as well as women have been deeply rooted. Inevitably, the transformation from this root and plunder is seemingly in a slow motion.Within the indigenous parameters, the older cohort has played with young minds, using their terrible systems, to amass more power and advance their personal esteem whilst defiling national pride andsanity. Couriers of the impeachment, third & open terms, flag‘amendment’, constructive resignation etc were largely youngsters betraying their inner conscious in order to thrill the masters. Thisis vividly a desperate attempt by our elders to contaminate us with their generational systematic mess instead of them getting rid of the hangover.Today’s youngsters are democratic and with due respect, we don’t fear the elders… To be explicit, we only fear the older cohorts’ awfulsystems as they are predators to this nation’s growth, prosperity, democracy and rule of law. Therefore, let us cushion our fear with courage and determination to collectively make Malawi free fromautocracy, corruption, appeasement, nepotism and the rest of the mayhem and its umbilical cords. Two crucial preferences rock this life of ours, thus, to accept circumstances as in the present or shoulder the task for changing them. Fear is only as deep as the mind tolerates and in this light, be the candle or the mirror that reflects it.
