From the on-set, Chasowa’s death left a bundle of questions answerless yet a delta of clues could be drawn from the same. Acting in the heat of things, the police couldn’t contain patience but yell: Chasowa committed suicide! They said, highlighting evidence of a suicide note reportedly authored by Robert. The police eclipsed their credibility and professionalism, the fast track conclusion pulled on the death reduced the whole Malawi Police Service into a lump of shame and embarrassment as confirmed by pathologist Dr Charles Dzamalala dismissed suicide and established murder in his autopsy report. Who is fooling who? Obviously, the truth is fooling lies just as good flourishes over evil.
A young life lost, gone under circumstances connected to underground political dealings. The death of Chasowa is tantamount to gross youth abuse. It portrays just how the older generation uses the younger generation like condoms; ready to be dumped and disposed any time after use and mind the next encounter. The younger generation’s salivating appetite for money is a great trap, the old ones go with the flow, offering us kwachas to champion their needs politically, ritually, economically and even sexually.
Dear youngsters, there is so much we know yes, and surely there is a lot more we have to know…dirty money costs dirty and corrupts our upright thinking. The short cuts to riches are likely to cut us short. Don’t be detached from reality, know where to draw the line otherwise, let’s have a moment of silence.
