TEARS FOR FREEDOM

Theoretical freedom deceives, practical freedom lives. Things are not the same; fear is creeping and taking over hearts of many able youths. For some very naked prevailing reasons, young people are absolutely in the know of the hussle they endure against what the government has in store for them.
Surely, we are not deaf or dumb… we are able youths and we want ourselves to stop accepting these hardships by confronting them head on and not just give in to the hardship of life. We must find viable strategies, even in this environment, in order to develop hope: hope for ourselves; hope for this country and let practical freedom flourish for the betterment of Malawi’s democracy.
So many faces threaten our lives…talk of injustice, corruption, intolerance, smoky politics, nepotism, violence, unemployment etc. Our lives are falling apart, our survival is on the rocks economically, socially and politically. I know, some big wigs can ignore all this and trash it as crap simply because they are deafened by the glory of a bunch of bodyguards with guns around them, even in their highly secure fences of mansions built on ballots of millions of Malawians drowning in the sea of poverty.
The older generation seems bent on strangulating the life of freedom…there is freedom of expression; yes, but freedom after expression is not guaranteed. Freedom of association exists, but after association the freedom exits. Talk of academic freedom which is gasping for a breath of life after being sarcastically butchered.
Tears of freedom fail to cease as popcorn political leaders are so economical with the truth, even when the truth is highly visible, they would rather sit on it and distort any postmortem thereafter.
Fellow youngsters, wipe away the tears! The secret of joy is freedom and the secret of freedom is bravery…the brave are free.
