MAXIMISE YOUTHFUL POTENTIAL

Some of the key aspects missing in action for the country to dodge various socio-economic rocks hitting this nation hard are the ‘deliberate’ discriminatory approaches against young people in participatory engagements of national interest.
Participation is taking part in an activity. Public participation is about actively informing, consulting and involving members of the public in decision-making processes. In achieving improved services for young people it is important to involve the youth at service planning and individual decision-making levels, including priority setting. This will help establish and grow processes to encourage and allow this young generation to contribute to; not only their communities but also to the political processes that define the structure of their individual lives and opportunities.

It is high time the leadership mix a cross section of the so called stakeholders maximise the full potential of the youth of Malawi. Young people have what it takes to stand heads and shoulders above others in this competitive dynamic world. Today’s youth are focused on outcomes and surely, they can steer this country to greater heights because they are continuously proactive in various positive spheres. Malawi’s youth are no longer rigid.
Malawi needs young people in both the private and public sector, not just for the sake of representation but because the youth deserve to be there to deliver and make Malawi a better place. Society should not be frightened of new ideas, it should be frightened of the old ones as they are the ones driving the country into this winding road of potholes, dry pumps, zero-forex, nepotism, appeasement etc. At the end of the day all the citizenry dances to are furnished half-truths and manufactured public relations which exit to serve the interests of the chosen few at the expense of millions of Malawians.
Fellow youngsters, lets strive to die on our feet than live on our knees.
