EXECUTIVE ARROGANCE

That Malawi registered amazing socio-economic and political
development not only earned the country multiplied international
accolades, the success eventually towed the rising sun on the national
flag to the noon position to tout it all. Hand claps, ululations and
other indigenous titles were showered all over the leadership. Indeed,
Malawi had a super cruise on the prosperity highway. Apparently those
manning the steering were either sent into extreme excitement or they
simply relaxed, abandoning the cruise on an auto pilot.
Extensive huge entourage travels, massive extravagance, self centred
modifications characterized this zero -deficit pomp. As those in
authority continued to float in the highly inflated self success,
national ideologies, policies and principles are in orphanage.
Voices of advice and constructive criticism that echo left, right and
centre earn themselves stupid honoraries from the executive in public.
Collectively we watch things getting from bad to worse…the economy is
shaken to its knees, the academic arena is limping (struggling to
recover from the wounds of the battle for its own constitutional
freedom), bundles of civil servants are gnashing their teeth over
belated salaries, hundreds of thousands of youngsters lack employment,
the administration and disbursement  of the campaign-infested youth
loans is politically dubious, not to talk about dehydrated pump
stations, taps, power as well as the ever growing forex starvation.
Executive arrogance at work!
These effects plus others have made life harder for the ordinary
Malawian…whether young or old. To this day, the executive has never
erred and it refuses to do so, even when the obvious speaks louder!
The leadership continues to get wiser and dynamic and those in
authority keep perching pages of praise to heap on the headship.
If not corrected, this arrogance will surely get the country
intoxicated at a price and the stupid will turn wise. Fellow youth,
see through the reality and get wiser with dynamism for a healthy
Malawi.
